2,000 Grafts Hair Transplant in Thailand: Coverage and Clinic Costs

One HairTran patient researching a hair transplant in Thailand received a photo estimate of 3,000 to 3,500 grafts. After an in-person assessment, they wrote, "I only needed 2200 in total," on r/HairTransplants.

The surgeon decides at consultation whether 2,000 grafts suits your hairline or crown plan. For cost, Hairsmith publishes THB 80 per graft for FUE or FUT: 80 x 2,000 = THB 160,000, about US$4,830 at the exchange rate below.

Is 2,000 Grafts Enough for Your Hair Loss Pattern?

A count alone doesn't specify the area being treated or the hairline being designed. The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) says assessment considers the donor hair available, the area receiving hair, hair characteristics, health, previous procedures and your goals.

Ask the surgeon to show where the proposed grafts would go. If your priority is the front, get the intended hairline and temples marked before discussing whether the same session would include the crown.

Receding Hairline and Temples

ASMED, a clinic outside Thailand, labels one of its 2,000-graft cases "Norwood 3," a hair-loss stage label. That is an individual case; the label alone doesn't set your graft requirement.

A Hairsmith patient described being "post 2000 grafts on the temples" in a Hair Restoration Network post. Their account concerns temple work, so don't read that count as an allowance for every thinning area.

Thailand Hair Transplant Center says a lower hairline creates a larger area to cover and uses more donor hair. It puts hairline planning with the surgeon and advises conserving donor hair for possible later sessions.

For your consultation, distinguish filling recessed corners from lowering the whole front edge. Ask which work the proposed 2,000 grafts includes and whether any temple work sits outside that plan.

Crown Thinning

Insalaco Clinic, a clinic outside Thailand, publishes a case titled "CASE N°16 - TRANSPLANT ON CROWN, 2000 GRAFTS." A surgeon has used that count for a crown case, but your consultation still needs to establish the area and intended coverage.

Ask whether the plan treats the whole thinning area or only a selected part. Get that boundary shown on your scalp photos before comparing the count with someone else's procedure.

Thailand Hair Transplant Center's position is: "But for the top of the head and the crown areas, try medications first." Discuss that option with the treating clinician before committing donor hair to crown surgery.

One HairTran patient wrote, "I got 2500 grafts in my crown and 500 in my hairline," on r/Hairtransplant. Ask for the same area-by-area breakdown in your plan if both the crown and front concern you.

Why the Same Count Can Cover Different Areas

The ISHRS assessment includes both the hair available to move and the area where it would be placed. The donor area is where the transplant hair comes from; the recipient area is where it goes.

Have the surgeon explain how your hair characteristics and existing hair affect the proposed coverage. Two quotes that both say 2,000 grafts still need a drawing or description of the area each surgeon plans to treat.

If the suggested counts differ, compare the designs before comparing prices. A quote for temples and a quote for a lower frontal hairline may be pricing different requests.

What If I Need More Than 2,000?

Thailand Hair Transplant Center advises preserving donor hair for possible subsequent sessions. Ask what a 2,000-graft first procedure would address, what would remain untreated and how that decision affects future options.

A second procedure needs its own assessment. Don't book an extra session simply to reach a count suggested in a patient thread, and don't assume today's plan settles every future area of hair loss.

What 2,000 Grafts Means

The prices below use each clinic's own published graft count as the basis. Thailand Hair Transplant Center says a new hairline "should be planned by the surgeons, not by the patients," so treat the number as the surgeon's call at consultation.

What 2,000 Grafts Costs at Thai Clinics

Dollars at THB 33.14 = US$1 (European Central Bank reference rates, 22 September 2026). Converted totals are rounded to the nearest US$10; Thailand Hair Transplant Center's dollar prices are quoted directly.

Hairsmith also prints the THB 160,000 total in its own graft-count table. HairTran's row is specifically non-shaven FUE; its standard FUE starting price has no graft count attached, so it doesn't supply a standard-FUE total for 2,000 grafts.

Dr. Top's baht tier was shown on 17 October 2026. Keep "from" and "up to" attached to that figure when requesting a quote.

HE's Long Hair Transplant leaves the recipient area unshaved. Limited donor-area shaving is usually necessary.

Ask the clinic to describe its shaving plan before comparing that package with HairTran's non-shaven procedure.

These rows price different methods and billing arrangements. So compare the procedure labels before treating a lower figure as a saving.

Your 2,000-Graft Thailand Trip Total

HairTran separates its clinic fee from travel, accommodation, transport, meals and incidentals. Start with the procedure figure, then add the costs for your own dates and arrangements.

Confirm the quote's inclusions before adding accommodation or aftercare costs.

Use one currency throughout the worksheet. Enter expenses you must pay separately, so an included hotel night or transfer isn't counted twice.

Budget lineWhat to enter
A. ProcedureThe selected clinic's sourced 2,000-graft total, replaced by your written quote once assessed
B. Return travelYour return travel quote for the agreed dates
C. AccommodationNights x your nightly rate, counting only accommodation outside the clinic's written quote
D. Local expensesYour transport, meals and other expenses outside the quote
Cash subtotalA + B + C + D
E. Time away from workUnpaid days x the income you expect to lose per day; use zero if there is no lost income
Total including lost incomeCash subtotal + E

The last line is your personal trip budget, rather than a Thailand-wide price. Lost earnings stay visible as a separate line because they aren't a payment to the clinic or hotel.

For a starting procedure line, Hairsmith's published calculation is THB 80 x 2,000 = THB 160,000. Your travel and time-away inputs determine what gets added; there is no standard flight or hotel allowance in that multiplication.

If the written quote adds a clinical charge, include it in line A before adding travel. Ask the clinic which appointments require you to remain nearby, then price accommodation for those dates.

What Can Change a Thai Clinic Quote

Hairsmith says its published prices are final with no additional fees. Get the procedure label and count written beside the total so that statement applies to the work you're considering.

HairTran's cost guide says the physician's evaluation and graft number affect the price. It describes prescribed medications, shampoo and low-level laser therapy, a light-based treatment, as typical inclusions in fees communicated during consultation.

That wording needs confirmation in your own procedure quote. So ask which medication, care visits and treatments the total covers, including anything you would need after leaving Thailand.

Thailand Hair Transplant Center lists the procedure, pre-operative testing and medication, a light lunch, post-operative medications and aftercare items in its price. It also lists daily washing and checkups until departure; its inclusion list doesn't state that flights or accommodation are covered.

A per-graft rate and an up-to-2,000 package also handle the count differently. Ask how each clinic would price your assessed count if it falls below or above the proposed 2,000.

Use our guide to what a written hair transplant quote should include to compare the itemized answers. Keep accommodation and optional treatments identifiable within the total.

What Patients Who Had About 2,000 Grafts Report

A PHD Clinic patient in Pattaya wrote, "2000 grafts for about 30000 thai baht," in a r/HairTransplants post. This is one patient-reported total, not a clinic price or a Thailand benchmark.

A HairTran patient commenter with a larger, 3,000-graft case (2,500 grafts in the crown and 500 in the hairline) said growth was only beginning at two months in a r/HairTransplant thread. This is one patient's account of a bigger procedure, not a growth timetable for 2,000 grafts.

The Final Count Can Differ From the Estimate

The HairTran patient in the opening reported 2,200 grafts after a photo estimate of 3,000 to 3,500. Another HairTran author reported a final count of 1,658 after an initial estimate of 1,500 to 2,000 in a Hair Restoration Network post.

An estimate range leaves room for the examination to change the plan. So ask what the surgeon still needs to assess in person and how a changed count would affect your bill.

Follow-Up Dates Need Context

A Laorwong patient titled their r/HairTransplants update "Laorwong 2k grafts 1 year." The title puts the account a year after the procedure; it doesn't give a growth timetable for your own case.

When reading patient updates, check the time since surgery before comparing them. Ask your surgeon when they expect to review growth and how you should raise concerns between appointments.

A Second Procedure Is a Separate Planning Question

An Absolute Hair Clinic author described a 2,000-graft second procedure in a Hair Restoration Network thread. The author also separated an additional hyperbaric-oxygen treatment from included cleaning, bandages and laser therapy.

A 2,000-graft procedure can therefore appear in a patient's later surgical plan. That account doesn't tell you whether you'll need another operation after your first one; ask how the surgeon plans to preserve donor hair and handle any remaining areas.

The separately charged treatment also gives you a quote question: which proposed treatments are optional, and what would each add to your total?

Questions to Ask Before You Book

Ask each clinic for a written plan that answers the same questions. A price comparison is more useful when you can see the intended area, count and included care beside each figure.

Get the policy for a changed graft count before paying a deposit.

A HairTran author questioned receiving 2,468 grafts against a 2,500-graft package on Hair Restoration Network. Our guide to a graft count that differs from the quote covers the questions to settle in writing.

Travel dates need the clinic's appointment schedule too. Use our guide to how long to stay in Thailand when arranging the consultation, procedure and follow-up visits.

If you'd like help comparing a written Thailand quote, contact AsiaPatient with the proposed count, treatment area and inclusion list. The treating surgeon decides whether the procedure is suitable for you.

Sources and How We Calculated Totals

The clinic table uses each clinic's own published rate or package. For per-graft figures, we multiply the applicable rate by 2,000; package rows retain the clinic's count limit and any starting-price wording.

For converted dollar totals, we divide baht by 33.14 and round to the nearest US$10. We keep the Chiang Mai clinic's own dollar prices in their published currency and calculate no average across clinics.

Clinics cannot pay to be listed or ranked higher on AsiaPatient.

Frequently asked questions

Is 2,000 grafts enough for a receding hairline?

It can be a count proposed for hairline work, but the surgeon must assess your design and donor hair. A prospective patient comparing Bangkok clinics wrote "1800-2000 grafts are needed for hairline" on r/HairTransplants. Ask whether your plan fills the corners, changes the front edge or includes the temples.

Is 2,000 grafts enough for crown thinning?

Insalaco Clinic, a clinic outside Thailand, publishes a 2,000-graft crown case. Your surgeon still needs to assess your crown and define whether the proposed count would address the whole thinning area or a selected part. If you also want hairline work, ask for separate allocations before agreeing to a total.

Can an online graft estimate change at the clinic?

Yes. The HairTran patient who posted on r/HairTransplants reported 2,200 grafts after a photo estimate of 3,000 to 3,500. Ask what remains provisional until examination and how the clinic prices a changed count.

What if I receive fewer grafts than the package covers?

Ask the clinic to explain its policy in writing before booking. The HairTran patient who reported 2,468 grafts against a 2,500-graft package questioned the difference; their account doesn't establish a refund rule. Request the final count and ask how it will be reconciled with your agreed package.

How long should I stay in Thailand for 2,000 grafts?

Get dates from the treating clinic. A prospective Laorwong patient asking about travel wrote "My op IS 2000 Grafts" on r/HairTransplants. Ask for the consultation, procedure and required follow-up dates, plus advice on when you can fly; the count alone doesn't set your departure date.
