Female Hair Transplant Cost: Published Prices, Grafts and Thailand Trip Costs

Hannah-M was considering surgery for a high hairline without a formal diagnosis. If you're comparing surgery at home with a hair transplant in Thailand, assessment comes before booking. She wrote, "I have not had a formal diagnosis," on Hair Restoration Network on 22 May 2023.

Female hair transplant cost depends on the technique and graft count. HairTran publishes non-shaven FUE at THB 100, about US$3.02 per graft; Bellevue Hair Restoration starts no-shave FUE at US$7 per graft. Travel and the clinic's included care need comparing separately.

What changes the cost of a hair transplant for women

Keeping your hair long is a pricing question to raise at the consultation. A clinic's standard FUE figure doesn't tell you what it charges for unshaven or long-hair work.

FUE stands for follicular unit excision: the surgeon removes individual groups of hair follicles for transplantation. Those groups are called grafts, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) says most surgeons charge per graft, while a few charge a set amount for a projected graft range.

The ISHRS also says non-shaved FUE needs more labor and time. It usually carries a higher price.

So the technique label belongs beside the number when you compare clinics.

A per-graft rate needs a graft count before you have a procedure total. A fixed band needs its upper limit, while a package needs a written explanation of what happens if your assessed count falls outside it.

Ask the clinic to name the exact procedure and identify any areas it will shave.

Consultation and tests belong in the quote too. A package that includes a pre-operative check-up still needs to say whether any separately requested diagnostic tests are covered.

Why assessment comes before a price

A woman with thinning hair isn't automatically a transplant candidate. The ISHRS says people with general thinning in the donor area, where the transplanted hair comes from, might not be good candidates for any hair transplant surgery.

That can change the decision before price becomes relevant. Ask the clinician whether the donor hair is suitable and whether surgery is appropriate for the cause of your hair loss.

Candidacy is decided at assessment, not by a published price. That evaluation is what turns a clinic rate into a personal quote.

Civas and colleagues note that the work-up of female hair loss includes a medical and family history, a hair-pull test, scalp examination and laboratory tests, with a scalp biopsy when scarring hair loss is suspected. In their own women-only study, diagnosis rested on clinical examination, family history, dermoscopy and laboratory tests.

The study's selection criteria included adequate donor capacity, realistic expectations and no medical contraindications. That assessment process matters more to your own quote than borrowing another woman's graft count.

Keeping your hair also doesn't settle the choice of operation. The ISHRS says many women might prefer a strip procedure, called FUT, to having the scalp shaved; discuss the options with the surgeon before pricing only one technique.

Published prices for women and unshaven work by country

We compare what clinics publish; nobody at AsiaPatient has visited these clinics or had a procedure at them. Clinic prices and offers on this page were read 18 October 2026, except Dr. Top's prices, which were read 17 October 2026.

My Hair UK's fixed bands aren't labeled no-shave prices. Darling Downs offers long-hair and no-shave FUE on its women's page, but publishes no separate price for either there. It prints its prices with "$" and no currency code; this page reads them as Australian dollars because the clinic is in Queensland.

So if you want to keep your hair long, ask the UK or Australian clinic whether its listed FUE band covers that request. Then compare it with an explicitly unshaven quote.

Worked costs at clinic-published graft counts

Bellevue Hair Restoration supplies both the rate and the graft band. At its starting US$7 rate, 1,500 x US$7 = US$10,500, and 2,000 x US$7 = US$14,000, matching its published no-shave band.

Its next published band covers 2,000 to 2,500 grafts at US$14,000 to US$17,500. These are the clinic's price examples, so they don't tell you which count a surgeon would recommend for you.

The 1,500-graft comparison also shows why the wording around a total matters. My Hair UK lists GBP 3,299, about US$4,360, for that count; Darling Downs lists AUD 7,500, about US$5,240, for up to that count in Toowoomba.

Neither figure is a published long-hair quote. The same graft number only makes the prices comparable once the clinic confirms the technique and included care.

Dr. Top Hair Hospital uses another format: long hair with no shaving starts at THB 130,000, about US$3,920, for up to 2,000 grafts, with THB 20,000, about US$600, per additional 500. Its pricing page showed these baht figures on 17 October 2026, and the site shows prices in the visitor's currency (euros on 18 October 2026). The starting tier covers a range, so ask which band your assessed count falls into.

HE Clinic's long-hair tiers below let you compare fixed prices at named counts. So keep a clinic's published tier separate from a personal estimate until the surgeon has assessed you.

What the clinic price includes, and what it may not

A procedure fee can include substantial aftercare, but each clinic lists different items. These published inclusions were read 18 October 2026.

HairTran includes hair and scalp assessment, the procedure, post-procedure care for up to one year, and a low-level laser therapy program in its non-shaven fee. Ask how that care is arranged after you've returned home.

Hairsmith lists a 12-month supply of hair-growth medication and follow-up every three months. It also includes unlimited use of a low-level laser therapy cap during the year and an implanter pen for the procedure.

Those offers describe what the fee buys. Ask the treating clinician which medication or treatment is appropriate for you and which appointments require you to be at the clinic.

My Hair UK includes consultation, the procedure, post-operative medication and an aftercare kit. Its included follow-up appointments are in person, which matters when comparing surgery near home with travel abroad.

Dr. Top says every procedure includes a pre-operative check-up and "Daily post-op cleanse + consult x4." It also lists painkillers, medication, antibiotics and a take-home hair-growth pack, with accommodation and transfers offered separately.

Get the consultation, tests and follow-up costs itemized before comparing totals.

If a clinic includes ongoing visits, ask how you would use them from the US, UK, Australia or Canada. A year's access to care needs a practical arrangement once you've flown home.

What a Thailand trip adds

Build your Thailand budget with a separate line for the procedure and for each travel expense. Add your own flight quote, accommodation for the agreed dates, transfers, meals and insurance quote rather than treating the surgery price as the trip total.

The clinic's appointment schedule determines which dates need accommodation. Ask for the consultation, procedure and follow-up dates before choosing the return flight.

A hotel offer also needs its own boundaries. Check how many nights it covers, whether airport and clinic transfers are included, and what an extra night would cost if your agreed schedule is longer.

The published procedure prices don't establish your airfare or full stay costs. So compare the clinic-owned hotel option below with accommodation you price for your agreed dates.

Compare the Thailand price with the Bangkok stay

The two clinics below publish enough information to put a procedure price beside the time and appointments involved.

Dr. Top's three-night offer is an accommodation package. Confirm that its nights fit the appointments the clinic sets for your case.

HairTran gives different stay descriptions across its pages. Its home page mentions a minimum of three days for overseas patients with limited time and also describes a two-week stay for consultation, surgery and initial recovery.

Its FUE page says at least three to five days. Ask the clinic which schedule applies to you and how it handles appointments after you leave Bangkok.

Women choosing Bangkok: published long-hair and unshaven prices

HE Clinic publishes these Long Hair Transplant tiers, read 18 October 2026. Its wording is "with no other costs or charges." Its page says the recipient area is not shaved, but "limited shaving in the donor area is usually necessary."

The final tier says "over 2,400," so ask the clinic to state the count covered in your quote. Its no-other-charges wording doesn't identify a flight or hotel inclusion.

Dr. Top publishes its long-hair, no-shaving tier as from THB 130,000, about US$3,920, up to 2,000 grafts, then THB 20,000, about US$600, per extra 500 (read 17 October 2026). That gives you a package boundary to discuss alongside HE Clinic's fixed counts.

For per-graft pricing, HairTran lists non-shaven FUE at THB 100, about US$3.02. Hairsmith lists THB 120, about US$3.62, for non-shaven FUE.

Bangkok Hair Clinic has a long-hair transplant page but no precise rate. It says the cost depends on graft count, the treatment area, and the existing hairline and hairstyle.

BHI Clinic gives a general women's range of THB 150 to THB 200 per graft, about US$4.53 to US$6.04, in its long-hair FUE cost discussion. The article labels its cost overview 2024, and the range isn't a fixed BHI tariff.

Its long-hair service page asks you to contact the clinic for a price. Get a personal quote before treating that general range as your procedure rate.

Ask each clinic to confirm the shaving plan in the written quote before comparing its figure with another clinic's long-hair tier.

What patients report paying or pricing

These patients were comparing quotes when they posted. Their figures describe the proposed work at that time, so keep the date and procedure beside the amount.

On 22 May 2023, Hannah-M wrote on Hair Restoration Network that a US consultation had produced a quote of "around 12k for 1400 grafts." She was considering work on a high hairline and said she hadn't had a formal diagnosis.

On 2 July 2021, Hrnzaire, a prospective patient based in the UK, reported being "quoted £5 per graft" for a proposed 2,500-graft FUT hair transplant. Her Hair Restoration Network post connected the quote with the complexity of Afro hair, and she said she was concerned about the higher rate.

That reported GBP 5 rate is about US$6.61 per graft. Multiplying it by her proposed count gives GBP 12,500, about US$16,530 using the comparison exchange rate on this page.

On 20 February 2024, LondonGirl2024 wrote "without shaving (I prefer this)" beside the long-hair option. The Hair Restoration Network post listed Turkey quotes of GBP 3,250, about US$4,300, for FUE with donor shaving and GBP 5,500, about US$7,270, for long-hair FUE without shaving.

Her two quotes show why the shaving plan needs to be explicit. A lower figure for donor-shaven work doesn't price the same request as preserving the full hair length.

Questions to ask before comparing quotes

Ask each clinic to answer the same questions in writing. That lets you see whether a price difference comes from the procedure, the proposed graft count or the included care.

• Is this standard FUE, non-shaven FUE or long-hair work, and which areas will be shaved?
• What graft count or band does the quoted price cover, and what happens outside that band?
• Are consultation and diagnostic tests included, and what would be charged separately?
• Which medications, follow-up visits and procedure-day items are included?
• Does the price cover a hotel, transport between the airport and clinic, or translation?
• Which appointments require me to remain in Bangkok, and how will follow-up work after I leave?

If one clinic quotes a package and another quotes per graft, ask both to price the assessed plan. Keep any hotel or transfer offer on its own line so you can compare it with your travel arrangements.

Can I have a transplant without shaving my hair?

Clinics publish unshaven and long-hair options, but ask which areas the proposed procedure leaves unshaved. LondonGirl2024's 20 February 2024 Hair Restoration Network post listed quotes for donor-shaven FUE and long-hair FUE and wrote "(I prefer this)" beside the no-shaving option. The ISHRS says non-shaved FUE can be performed in selected cases and usually costs more because it takes more labor and time.

Does Afro hair change the price per graft?

Ask the clinic to explain its price for your case. Hrnzaire's 2 July 2021 Hair Restoration Network post reported a GBP 5, about US$6.61, per-graft FUT quote and linked it to the complexity of Afro hair. That was her individual quote; it doesn't provide a standard surcharge to add to another clinic's rate.

How do I compare a no-shave quote with a fixed budget?

Start with the assessed graft count and exact shaving plan, then add travel expenses. On 24 February 2026, Hair2023 described a "budget of around £4K" in a Hair Restoration Network no-shave question, about US$5,290 at this page's comparison rate. Ask whether your budget covers only surgery or the full trip before comparing packages.
