Hairsmith Clinic Reviews: Surgeons, Prices and What Patients Report (2026)

A patient who had about 10,000 grafts at Hairsmith Clinic between 2019 and 2021 posted a mixed account on r/HairTransplants on June 2, 2025. The poster wrote "Bottom line is I am happy with the work of the Hairsmith team." The same post says some staff were rude and gaps across the scalp needed follow-up sessions. If you're planning a hair transplant in Bangkok, it's one of the few detailed English-language accounts of this clinic in the sources read for this page.

Hairsmith Clinic is a hair transplant clinic in Asoke Towers, Bangkok, that says it's "dedicated exclusively to hair transplantation". It names two surgeons, Dr. Prima Tossaborvorn and Dr. Paphavarin Somsirivattana (Dr. Amy). Its cost page publishes a per-graft price: 80 THB per graft from 1,000 grafts.

We compare what Hairsmith publishes with what patients report. Nobody at AsiaPatient has visited the clinic or had a procedure there. Clinics cannot pay to be listed or ranked higher on AsiaPatient. See how we evaluate clinics.

Who the Surgeons Are

Dr. Prima is listed by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), which certifies hair restoration surgeons, and by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), a professional society. Dr. Amy has an ISHRS listing; an ABHRS directory search turned up none for her.

What the Clinic Says About Each Doctor

Dr. Prima Tossaborvorn. Her doctor page lists her as "Hair Transplant Surgeon", with Thai medical license number ว.33796 as printed by the clinic. It lists a medical degree from Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, a master's in clinical dermatology from Cardiff University, and the "American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) since 2014". It also lists ISHRS membership and the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AAHRS).

The page says "She is also one of the first 8 Thai doctors to be certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS)." That count is the clinic's own claim. It says she performs "the FUE technique, both shaven and non-shaven (Non-shaven FUE) methods, as well as the Long Hair FUE technique." It doesn't name FUT.

Dr. Paphavarin Somsirivattana (Dr. Amy). Her doctor page also lists her as "Hair Transplant Surgeon", with license number ว.66596 as printed by the clinic, and calls her "a key member of the Hairsmith Clinic medical team". It lists an MD from Chulalongkorn University, a master's in clinical dermatology from Mae Fah Luang University, and ISHRS and AAHRS membership. It claims no ABHRS certification. It says her "deep understanding of skin layers enables high-precision graft extraction (FUE)".

What the ABHRS and ISHRS Listings Show

Dr. Prima TossaborvornDiplomate, certification year 2014, 10-year recertification 2024ISHRS Full Member, joined 2017
Dr. Amy (Paphavarin Somsirivattana)No listing found in the directory, which does list Dr. PrimaISHRS Associate Member, joined 2025

Dr. Prima's ABHRS dates match the clinic's own, and both her listings give the Asoke Towers address. A November 2024 clinic news post says she "has successfully renewed her certification". For Dr. Amy, the ABHRS directory page read on October 17, 2026 had no entry under her name.

These listings are about training and exams. They say nothing about any one patient's result.

How to Check It Yourself

Dr. Prima's page tells readers to open the ABHRS site and use its "Physician Directory" tab. Search the doctor's name there, then on the ISHRS profiles linked above.

Both doctor pages link the Thai Medical Council register. The license numbers here are as printed by the clinic, so look up the doctor who will operate on you before you pay a deposit.

Who Does Which Step

Hairsmith's pages differ on how much of the surgery staff do.

In the Clinic's Own Words

The Why Hairsmith page, last updated May 15, 2025, says "only the board certified physician conducts all consultations and performs transplant procedures, while other clinics may allow technicians to perform procedures instead". But the clinic lists two doctors, and only Dr. Prima's page claims ABHRS certification.

The FUE page says "the doctor extracts hair grafts using a punch" and "the doctor uses an Implanter pen for all cases". Other pages mention staff. The FUT page says "every step of the FUT process is performed by specialized surgeons and a highly trained medical team". The non-shaven FUE page says "the medical staff will trim the hair strands to reduce their length", and the cost page mentions "our highly trained medical assistants". The Thai cost page says, in our translation, "the doctor looks after every case personally".

So ask which doctor will operate on you. Ask who does the extraction, the incisions, the trimming and the placing of grafts, and get the answer in writing.

In Patients' Words

On May 5, 2026, a poster on Pantip, a Thai forum, wrote a thread tagged as a consumer review. In our translation from Thai, what made the poster book "was that two doctors look after the operating room at the same time, Dr. Prima and Dr. Amy".

On August 22, 2026, an r/HairTransplants commenter with a booked date was asked how involved Dr. Prima is. The reply was "Yes. I believe shes doing most of the work." That's a belief from someone who hadn't had surgery yet.

Older WhatClinic reviews include one from October 2019 that says "the doctor didn't go anywhere from 12.30 pm - 07.00 pm." It's years old, so it might not reflect the clinic today.

Techniques Offered

Hairsmith lists shaven FUE, non-shaven FUE, Long Hair FUE, and beard and moustache transplants. Its homepage menu also lists FUT.

FUE. FUE (follicular unit extraction) takes grafts one at a time from the back of the head. The Why Hairsmith page says "the transection rate is less than 3%", meaning the share of follicles cut during extraction. That's the clinic's own figure. Our FUE page explains the method.

Implanter pen. A clinic article on DHI and FUE says "we use the Implanter Pen in all cases at no additional cost", and that the clinic doesn't call this DHI. Its Long Hair FUE page still uses the label "Long Hair FUE (DHI)". Our DHI page compares Bangkok clinics that use the name.

Non-shaven FUE. The non-shaven page says it "takes longer to perform and is generally more expensive than the traditional FUE method that involves shaving." Our non-shaven FUE page covers other Bangkok options.

Long Hair FUE. Long strands are transplanted instead of short ones. The Thai cost page says, in our translation, it's "for people who want to see results immediately after the transplant". But the Long Hair page says the hair "will naturally shed within 2-3 weeks as part of the hair growth cycle".

FUT. The clinic's FUT page says the procedure "involves removing a thin strip of scalp from the donor area" and "Leaves a long, thin scar at the back of the head, which may be visible if the hair is cut very short." The page prices FUT the same as FUE. Dr. Prima's page names only FUE methods. So ask Hairsmith whether it currently performs FUT before you plan around that page. Our FUT page covers the method.

Beard and other treatment. The beard and moustache page says "the price for a beard, mustache, and sideburn transplant starts at 59,000 THB". The homepage also lists services for treating hair loss without surgery, including low-level laser treatment.

Hairsmith Clinic Price: What the Clinic Publishes and What Patients Pay

What the Clinic Publishes

Hairsmith publishes per-graft rates on its English cost page, its Thai cost page and its FAQ, read October 17, 2026.

ProcedureHairsmith's rateOur conversion
FUE, 1,000 grafts or moreTHB 80 per graft$2.41 per graft
FUE, under 1,000 graftsTHB 90 per graft, minimum charge THB 59,000$2.72 per graft; $1,780 minimum
Non-shaven FUETHB 120 per graft$3.62 per graft
Long Hair FUETHB 160 per graft (Long Hair page)$4.83 per graft
Corrective work after another clinicTHB 100 per graft for FUE, THB 150 for non-shaven FUE$3.02 and $4.53 per graft
Beard, moustache and sideburnsFrom THB 59,000From $1,780
FUT, per its FUT pageTHB 80 per graft from 1,000 grafts; THB 90 below that$2.41 and $2.72 per graft

Hairsmith's hair transplant costs start at 59,000 THB, the minimum charge on its cost page. By our arithmetic and conversion, 1,000 grafts of standard FUE come to 80,000 THB ($2,414), and 2,500 grafts to 200,000 THB ($6,035). The same page's own example is "1,500 x 80 = 120,000 baht".

The pages differ in two places. The English cost page labels its rates "2025 pricing", while the Thai cost page, updated October 1, 2026, gives the same rates for 2026. And the FAQ says "The price is 80-150 baht/graft.", while the Long Hair page says 160 THB. Ask for the current rate for your technique in writing.

The cost page says there are "no hidden costs", and the treatment overview page says "These prices are final with no additional fees." The cost page also says Hairsmith doesn't sell package deals, and that "we don’t offer the lowest prices". It warns that "Some clinics count by individual hairs, while others count by grafts", so ask which one your quote counts.

The Thai cost page offers, in our translation, "0% installments for up to 10 months, for credit cards from any bank in Thailand". The same page says Kasikorn Bank and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) cards can be split into installments at the clinic right away. With other banks' cards, you set up the installments with your bank, and the clinic deducts the interest as a discount. Our Bangkok cost guide puts these rates next to other clinics.

Patient-Reported Prices by Date

Each row is one person's post, and none is a current clinic price.

Oct 7, 2026The same poster, asked the cost: "3 bucks per graft.. not sure if the graft count yet", currency not statedr/HairTransplants

Two posts match the clinic's published 80 baht rate. The others give an older rate, a figure with no currency stated, or no price. The cash discount is one comment, and no cash price appears on the clinic pages read for this page.

What to Ask for in Writing

A quote might change after the doctor examines you in person.

Booking, Consultation and Deposit

The homepage says the clinic "provides free consultations and personalised treatment recommendations". The cost page says "You can send us a photo for an estimate". The consultation page lists booking by "phone, LINE app, or email".

Whether you have thinning hair or a bald crown, the same page says "the doctor will take your medical history and diagnose the cause of your hair loss." A clinic preparation article asks you to tell the doctor about "the medications you use", which includes any blood-thinning medicines. It also says "you can come alone and leave alone on the day of the transplant".

None of the Hairsmith pages read for this page gives a deposit amount, refund terms or a waiting time. What's known comes from single patient comments:

So get the deposit amount, the refund deadline and the date-change rules in writing before you pay.

What Is Included

The cost page lists what the per-graft price includes:

The Thai cost page adds, in our translation, "however, this must follow the clinic's follow-up conditions". Ask what those conditions are.

A clinic article on medicines says "It does not mean that everyone will have to take medication." So ask what the 12 months of medication would be in your case. Another clinic article calls free hair washes and complimentary laser treatment "mainly marketing strategies", though the cost page lists both. Judge the quote on the surgery, not the extras.

The Hairsmith pages read for this page don't mention hotels or airport transfers, so ask before you book travel.

Aftercare and Follow-Up When You Fly Home

The aftercare article says the clinic schedules a follow-up "to check the transplanted area and demonstrate how to wash your hair". The overview page says "On the second day, return to the clinic to have your hair washed and wounds checked." The aftercare article puts scabs at days 4 to 7 and final results at twelve months. The FUE page says "Acne may appear in the transplanted or donor area during the first 1-3 months".

Two rules differ between the clinic's pages. The aftercare article says to avoid "swimming and sauna" for "30 days", while the FUE page says to "avoid swimming and saunas for two months". For FUT stitches, the FAQ says "10 days after surgery" and the FUT page says "7 days after the procedure". Follow your own surgeon's written instructions.

The cost page lists follow-up visits every 3 months for one year, at the clinic. The Hairsmith pages read for this page don't describe follow-up for patients who live abroad.

The May 2026 Pantip poster wrote, in our translation, "I kept sending update photos through LINE; the doctor and the team check how the grafts are doing". At three months the poster didn't return to Thailand, "so I sent follow-up photos to the doctor online instead". That's one case. So ask who reviews your photos, and through which channel. Our Bangkok recovery guide covers the first days after surgery.

Location and Getting There

Hairsmith's contact page gives one address: "213/7 1st Floor, Asoke Towers, Asoke Montri rd., Klongtoey Nua, Wattana, Bangkok, Thailand 10110". The site footer adds "Soi Sukhumvit 21". The clinic opens Monday to Saturday, 11 AM to 6 PM, and its homepage links a map pin. Neither page gives directions or transit details.

Two professional listings show other addresses. Dr. Prima's ABHRS listing also gives "1200/86, Udomsuk 58,Bangna,10260,Thailand". Dr. Amy's ISHRS profile gives "Nakornthai Clinic, 333/259 The Esse Asoke, Floor 3", with hairsmithclinic.com as her website. Hairsmith's contact page lists only Asoke Towers, so ask which address your surgery takes place at.

Hairsmith Clinic Reviews: What Patients Report

English-language accounts of Hairsmith are few in the sources read for this page. In the r/HairTransplants threads read on October 17, 2026, four posters describe their own surgery there, and two of them wrote within about three months of it. The clinic's WhatClinic listing, whose details the clinic can update, shows 11 reviews from October 2017 to August 2020. A search of Pantip, a Thai forum, for "hairsmith" returned many threads.

Positive and Mixed Reports

On July 15, 2026, 15 days after surgery, a commenter wrote "The experience was generally good, the clinic staff was very patient and helpful." On the early look: "My hairline looks really natural currently but im still waiting for it to grow out."

On September 28, 2026, a commenter who "travelled from Australia" for surgery with Dr. Prima on July 15 wrote "In my opinion she is world class." That was about two and a half months after surgery. The clinic gives twelve months for final results.

The June 2025 long-term patient wrote "I also had plenty of head donor hair and this too had minimal transection and great yield", and praised the clinic's body hair extraction. On August 22, 2026, a commenter who only had a consultation wrote "She's good. Had a consult with her but went with Dr Patty in the end."

Commenters in December 2025 and August 2026 say much of her practice is local. The second wrote "Most of her patients seem to be Thai and therefore you won't see their results on English speaking forums or a site like reddit."

The May 2026 Pantip poster, quoted above, liked having two doctors in the room and a final agreed price. The WhatClinic reviews are positive and old. An August 2020 review said "after 6months, I am already totally satisfied with the results".

Complaints, Criticism and Doubts

The June 2025 long-term patient also wrote "Some of the staff are rude and don't like if you ask too many questions." And "Dr. Prima's aesthetic eye is not the best." The poster described an awkward hairline and "a few significant gaps across my scalp" that "required follow up sessions". The poster wrote "These problems were fixed", but said they should have been done right the first time.

On July 28, 2026, a commenter chose another surgeon over Dr. Prima because of fewer reviews: "Prima just seemed a little more risky. But I dont think you can go wrong with either!" In December 2025 another said there aren't many reviews of Dr. Prima. In February 2025 a prospective patient wrote "I’ve only found two reviews of Dr. Prima on Reddit, and both were positive."

Fewer reviews leave less to compare. So ask for before-and-after cases from the doctor who'll operate on you.

What the Reports Can't Tell You

Two of the four first-hand Reddit accounts came within about three months of surgery, and the clinic itself puts final results at twelve months. The clinic's reviews page and homepage testimonials are picked by the clinic. Its news post says it received WhatClinic service awards each year from 2020 to 2023, and its homepage announces a HELLO! Beauty Awards 2024 win. Those are the clinic's own announcements. No complication or revision rates appear on the Hairsmith pages read for this page.

Hairsmith Clinic Compared With Other Bangkok Clinics

On Reddit, prospective patients weigh Dr. Prima against other Bangkok surgeons, including Dr. Patty at HairTran. These rows use published points only.

ClinicPublished priceOne more published point
Hairsmith80 THB per graft from 1,000 grafts, plus non-shaven and Long Hair ratesFollow-up visits every 3 months for one year and 12 months of medication, per its cost page
Absolute Hair ClinicOnly a starting figure of about $905 (฿30,000)Two doctors listed as ISHRS Fellows and ABHRS diplomates
HairTranA starting price of $3,078 (฿102,000), and $3.02 (฿100) per graft for no-shave FUEA 1-year follow-up program with checkpoints at 1 day, 2 weeks, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months

Of the six clinics in our Bangkok clinic comparison, Hairsmith is the only one with a fixed, published per-graft rate for standard FUE. That lets you estimate a price before you write to the clinic, though your graft count still comes from an exam. Our profiles of Bangkok Hair Clinic and DHT Clinic use the same format as this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hairsmith Clinic legit and licensed?

Hairsmith prints Thai medical license numbers for both doctors and links the Thai Medical Council register, so look them up there yourself. The ABHRS lists Dr. Prima as a Diplomate (certification year 2014, recertification 2024). The ISHRS lists her as a Full Member and Dr. Amy as an Associate Member. Those listings cover training, not results.

Who are the doctors at Hairsmith Clinic?

The clinic names two hair transplant surgeons, Dr. Prima Tossaborvorn and Dr. Paphavarin Somsirivattana (Dr. Amy). Dr. Prima's page lists ABHRS certification since 2014. Dr. Amy's lists ISHRS and AAHRS memberships and no ABHRS certification. A May 2026 Pantip poster described both in the operating room, so ask who does which part of your surgery.

How much does a hair transplant cost at Hairsmith Clinic?

Hairsmith publishes 80 THB per graft for FUE from 1,000 grafts, 90 THB below that with a 59,000 THB minimum, 120 THB for non-shaven FUE and 160 THB for Long Hair FUE. By our arithmetic, 2,500 grafts of standard FUE come to 200,000 THB, about $6,035 by our conversion. The Thai cost page, updated October 1, 2026, gives the same rates as the English page's 2025 pricing. Ask for a dated written total for your graft count.

Does Hairsmith Clinic offer non-shaven or long hair transplants?

Yes. It lists non-shaven FUE at 120 THB per graft and Long Hair FUE at 160 THB per graft. The clinic says non-shaven FUE takes longer and is generally more expensive than shaven FUE, and that transplanted long hair sheds within 2-3 weeks. Ask how many grafts it would do in your case without shaving.

Is the consultation free, and is a deposit needed?

The clinic says consultations are free, and you can send photos of your hair loss for an estimate by email, LINE, WhatsApp or its contact form. Its pages read for this page give no deposit amount or refund terms. One poster with a February 2027 date wrote in August 2026 that "The deposit is fully refundable 45 days before". That's one account, so get the terms in writing.

What do Hairsmith Clinic reviews say, good and bad?

The English-language accounts read for this page are few. Reddit posts from July and September 2026 praise the staff and the surgeon, but both came within three months of surgery. A June 2025 patient with about 10,000 grafts from 2019 to 2021 was happy with the team, but reported rude staff, an awkward hairline and gaps that needed follow-up sessions. The WhatClinic reviews are positive and date from 2017 to 2020.

What follow-up do I get after I fly home?

The cost page lists follow-up visits every 3 months for one year, at the clinic. The Hairsmith pages read for this page describe no process for patients who live abroad. One May 2026 Pantip poster sent photos over LINE instead of returning at three months. Ask how remote follow-up works before you book.
