BHI Clinic Reviews: Surgeons, Prices and What Patients Report (2026)

Gregory MC chose BHI for a beard-to-scalp transplant after comparing hair transplant clinics in Thailand and abroad. In an April 26, 2025 post on RealSelf, the patient wrote, "every question I had was answered quickly, clearly and completely."

This BHI Clinic hair transplant review covers the clinic's published information and patient accounts. BHI Clinic is a Bangkok hair transplant clinic whose surgery is directed by Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, according to BHI. It publishes starting rates for shaven and non-shaven FUE, the method that removes donor follicles individually, while its FUT strip-surgery price requires an inquiry.

BHI stands for Best Hair Icons, the name on its homepage. Its contact page lists Ladprao in Bangkok and Salaya in Nakhon Pathom. So settle the branch before choosing accommodation.

The linked starting rates and consultation offer were read October 18, 2026. Ask for a total against your own procedure and graft count.

Who the Surgeons Are

What the Clinic Says About Each Doctor

BHI calls Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana its CEO and leading hair-transplant surgeon. Her biography lists Thai Board certification in General and Plastic Surgery and a hair-restoration fellowship accredited by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).

The biography uses the wording "Past American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery." That wording describes a past credential, so ask for her current board status if it matters to your choice.

BHI names Dr. Wongwarit Boonsiripiyachoke as a hair-transplant surgeon. His biography lists medical study at Siriraj Hospital, general- and plastic-surgery residencies, and Thai Board certification in General and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The clinic also claims ISHRS membership and says he passed an American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) oral examination. An exam statement alone doesn't tell you his current status with the board.

What the ABHRS and ISHRS Listings Show

The ISHRS directory lists Dr. Kulakarn as an ISHRS Fellow Member. It records Thai plastic-surgery board certification, ISHRS fellowship training, and both FUE and FUT among her procedures.

The ISHRS directory lists Dr. Wongwarit as an ISHRS Associate Member, under the surname spelling Boonsiripiyachok.

ISHRS is a professional society for hair-restoration surgery. ABHRS is the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery; a society membership and a board credential need separate checks.

Ask each doctor for a current ABHRS directory link before treating the clinic biography as evidence of present board status.

How to Check It Yourself

Start with the full name of the doctor assigned to your booking. Dr. Kulakarn's ISHRS entry is available to read directly.

Ask BHI for the doctor's registered name and Thai medical-license number, plus a current directory link for any board credential quoted. Keep those details with your treatment plan so you can check the person who will operate.

Who Does Which Step

In the Clinic's Own Words

BHI names its doctors, but its procedure pages don't assign every operative step to a named person for your booking. Ask separately about donor extraction, the incisions that receive the grafts, and graft placement.

The distinction matters when you are choosing a particular surgeon. A booking under that doctor's name still needs to explain which work the doctor will perform and which work the nursing or technical team will handle.

In Patients' Words

In a November 19, 2023 RealSelf post, KD62 described Dr. Kulakarn and a doctor called Dr. Wunny placing grafts during the FUT portion of a combined procedure. The patient had FUE and FUT on separate days, with a rest day between.

That account gives a partial description of one operation. So have BHI name the people responsible for each step in your booking.

Techniques Offered

BHI lists FUE and FUT alongside Non-Shaven FUE, Long-Hair FUE, beard transplantation and eyebrow transplantation. These names don't answer every question about shaving or graft placement, so bring your hairstyle requirements to the consultation.

Shaven FUE

FUE stands for follicular unit excision. BHI describes removing follicles individually from a donor area, usually at the back of the head, and placing them in the areas being treated.

Ask the surgeon to mark both areas on your proposed plan. So ask how much hair will be trimmed in each area.

Non-Shaven and Long-Hair FUE

BHI says non-shaven FUE is typically limited to about 1,500 to 2,000 grafts per session. It describes extraction taking 2 to 4 hours and implantation another 2 to 4 hours.

If keeping your hair long is a condition of booking, ask how the proposed graft count fits that session size. Also ask whether the quote is for the clinic's Non-Shaven FUE or separately named Long-Hair FUE service.

FUT Hair Transplantation, Beard and Eyebrow Work

FUT means follicular unit transplantation. BHI describes removing a strip of donor scalp, separating it into grafts under a microscope, and placing those grafts into receiving incisions.

Its page describes a linear donor scar and later stitch removal. Ask how the donor wound will be managed during your stay and after departure.

The service menu also names beard and eyebrow transplantation. It doesn't list direct hair implantation (DHI) as a separate hair-transplant service; ask which placement tools would be used in your procedure.

What the Clinic Publishes

BHI publishes two starting rates on its procedure pages. The FUT page asks readers to contact the clinic for pricing.

Prices read October 18, 2026. Both FUE figures are starting rates; BHI doesn't give a complete package-inclusion list beside them.

Patient-Reported Prices by Date

We have no dated patient-reported payment amount to put beside these rates. The patient accounts below describe surgery and care without giving a usable procedure price.

A reviewer's description of a price as competitive won't tell you what your graft count costs. So use the clinic's written total when comparing your options.

What to Ask for in Writing

Ask for the procedure name, proposed graft count, per-graft rate and total in the same quote. Have BHI name the surgeon and separate any optional treatment charges.

Your in-person assessment might change the proposed plan. Ask whether a different graft count changes the rate, total or deposit terms before agreeing to surgery.

Booking, Consultation and Deposit

You can arrange a consultation before traveling through the channels in the table above. Use it to ask which doctor will assess you and whether you can speak with the proposed operating surgeon.

BHI's team page and contact page don't publish a deposit amount, waiting time or cancellation policy. Ask for available dates for the named doctor, together with refund and rescheduling terms.

Get the payment terms before paying a deposit.

Those terms should cover a changed treatment plan, a decision against surgery and a moved travel date. Ask whether an in-person consultation can take place before any surgery payment becomes nonrefundable.

What Is Included

BHI describes a next-day visit for bandage removal, washing and aftercare instructions after shaven FUE. It also describes professional washing during the first week.

These are published care arrangements, but the page doesn't itemize what the starting rate pays for. Ask which visits are included and whether any further appointments cost extra.

The linked procedure pages don't provide a complete medication, aftercare-kit, hotel or transfer package list. Have those items separated in the quote so you can budget for the trip and the care you'll need at home.

Aftercare and Follow-Up When You Fly Home

BHI's shaven FUE page recommends at least 48 hours in Bangkok after surgery. The non-shaven FUE FAQ recommends 3 to 7 days for professional washes, while its procedure description also mentions a 48-hour minimum.

So ask BHI to set your visit schedule and departure date for the method you're booking. A minimum stay alone doesn't tell you how many wash appointments you'll attend.

For FUT, BHI describes washing within a day or two and stitch removal around 7 to 14 days. If you'll already be home, arrange who will remove the stitches before booking your flight.

The clinic's linked pages don't describe a remote follow-up schedule for international patients. Ask who will review your photos, how to contact that person, and what happens if you need an examination after leaving Thailand.

Keep the treating team's written instructions and contact details with you. Ask them to explain which concerns need prompt local care and how they'll communicate with a doctor at home if needed.

Location and Getting There

The BHI contact page lists two branches:

Dr. Wongwarit's schedule also names an MBK Branch, which its booking form calls the Pathumwan Princess Bangkok Branch (MBK Center), without a street address. Ask for the address of surgery and each follow-up visit before choosing a hotel.

Use the clinic's street address when arranging transport. A doctor appearing on a branch schedule doesn't settle where your procedure will happen.

BHI Clinic Reviews: What Patients Report

Positive Reports

Gregory MC's April 26, 2025 RealSelf post describes communication before, during and after a beard-to-scalp procedure with Dr. Kulakarn. The patient also praises the follow-up sessions.

On June 9, 2024, alexsei01 wrote on RealSelf, "The entire surgery took about eight hours, but it felt like no more than three or four." The account names Dr. Wunny and describes five washing and healing visits.

The patient also received instructions and pain medication, with sleeping pills available if needed.

KD62's November 19, 2023 RealSelf account was written nine days after surgery. The patient booked three weeks in Bangkok to heal before returning home and described daily washing and scab removal.

On December 5, 2022, eyebrow-transplant patient tonitefernando wrote on RealSelf that the numbing needles were "stinging a little bit." The patient also described return follow-up visits; this was eyebrow surgery, so discuss comfort for your proposed procedure separately.

Complaints, Criticism and Doubts

The independent accounts above are positive overall. We don't have an independent negative BHI account to quote, and that leaves the complaint side of the review incomplete.

BHI also hosts testimonials on its Long-Hair FUE page. Several are undated or partly named, making it harder to match them to a surgeon, procedure date and later follow-up.

Ask how the clinic handles a patient who is unhappy or needs further assessment. Get the process, likely charges and contact person in writing before paying.

What the Reports Can't Tell You

Early accounts can describe how a consultation went or what happened at a wash appointment. They leave questions about later growth and care after returning home unanswered.

The accounts also concern different procedures and doctors. If you're booking with Dr. Wongwarit, a beard-to-scalp account naming Dr. Kulakarn won't describe the procedure you're considering.

We would look for a continuing patient timeline that names the proposed surgeon and method. These accounts don't supply a clinic-wide complication rate or a prediction of your result.

Questions to Ask Before You Pay a Deposit

Take these to BHI once you have a proposed treatment plan:

• What method is quoted, what will be shaved, and how many grafts are planned?
• What is the total, what does it include, and which charges are optional?
• What are the deposit, cancellation and rescheduling terms?
• Which addresses will host surgery and follow-up?
• What care is planned before departure, and who will handle questions after I return home?
• If I have FUT, who will remove the stitches and where?

Keep the answers with your quote. If an answer changes at consultation, ask for the treatment plan and price to reflect it before proceeding.

If you're considering FUT, settle the full price and stitch-removal arrangement together. The procedure's follow-up needs should be part of your travel plan.

If your choice rests on a particular doctor, get that doctor's role written down. The clinic's biographies and the patient accounts don't replace a staffing plan for your own operation.
