Hair Transplant Waiting Lists in Thailand: How Far Ahead Bangkok Surgeons Book
In February 2026, a 34-year-old working in a country next to Thailand wrote to three Bangkok surgeons about a hair transplant. Dr. Pukpinya Jangjetriew, known as Dr. Patty, "gives me a timeline December 2026 which is huge of a wait," he posted on HairLossTalk.
Ten months is at the long end, but it isn't unusual for the surgeons patients ask about most. For a hair transplant in Thailand with the best-known Bangkok names, patients report waits from about two months to ten between asking and the surgery date.
A few patients get in sooner, within about two months, by being flexible or by fitting it into a trip they already had planned. And the video consultation can be a wait of its own before you're offered a date at all.
How Long Patients Wait, Surgeon by Surgeon
No Thai clinic we checked publishes a surgery waiting time on its site now. What exists is patient reports, and they move fast, so every row below is dated.
The gap column is our own count from the dates in each post.
| Surgeon and clinic | When the patient asked or booked | Date offered | Gap (our count) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dr. Patty, HairTran | February 2026 | December 2026 | About 10 months | HairLossTalk |
| Dr. Patty, HairTran | Date scheduled 19 November 2025, after a consultation wait of "About 2 months" | Late April 2026 | About 5 months from scheduling, about 7 from first contact by our count | |
| Dr. Patty, HairTran | August 2025 | December 2025 | About 4 months | |
| Dr. Patty, HairTran | May 2024 | 5 November 2024 | About 6 months, by choice | |
| Dr. Panchaprateep, Absolute | 2025 (posted October) | Booked solid for 6 months | About 6 months (patient's words) | |
| Dr. Laorwong, Absolute | July 2023 | September 2023 to January 2024 | About 2 months | |
| Dr. Laorwong, Absolute | Early September 2023 | January 2024 (first opening that suited the patient) | About 4 months | |
| Dr. Laorwong, Absolute | Mid-January 2024 | Mid-July 2024 | About 6 months | |
| Dr. Laorwong, Absolute | 5 April 2024 (patient had booked in mid-March) | Calendar booked out to October | About 6 months from 5 April | |
| Dr. Laorwong and Dr. Panchaprateep, Absolute | May 2024 | Both full until October | About 5 months | |
| Dr. Laorwong, Absolute | Not stated (booking reported 5 June 2024) | January 2025 | At least 7 months, from the report date | |
| Dr. Panchaprateep, Absolute | June 2024 | December 2024 | About 6 months |
Dr. Ratchathorn Panchaprateep and Dr. Kongkiat Laorwong both operate at Absolute Hair Clinic. Patients call her Dr. Ratchathorn or Dr. Panchaprateep, and him Dr. Laorwong.
Dr. Patty at HairTran
The two most recent reports in the table are for Dr. Patty. In a November 2025 Reddit thread titled "Thailand: wait time", the poster had heard she was "available may 2026", and a reply said "I just scheduled my date with Dr Patty for late April."
The February 2026 date of December 2026 is the longest wait we found for her.
One patient chose a later date. The patient booked in May 2024 for a 5 November surgery and wrote "I could have gone sooner but chose to stay on meds and wait a little longer."
Dr. Laorwong and Dr. Panchaprateep at Absolute
The 2023 and 2024 reports show Dr. Laorwong's calendar filling. In one thread, a patient who had been offered dates 2 months out in July 2023 asked again in mid-January 2024: "the earliest he could see me was mid-July."
In June 2024 a thread whose title ends "Booked out for the next 10 months!" said his "waiting list is getting really long now too." A reply in the same thread said "I'm booked for Jan 2025."
By October 2025 the picture had flipped for one patient, who wrote that Dr. Panchaprateep "was booked solid for the next 6 Months" while "Dr. Laorwong had availability for dates that suited me."
The newest comments put Dr. Ratchathorn furthest out. In a September 2026 thread from someone planning a January trip, one reply said "A lot of these doctors book out for months if not at least a year in Ratchathorn's case." An October 2026 reply said she "is generally booked 6 to 12 months in advance."
So a wait you read about last year may not be the wait you get. Ask both surgeons at the clinic.
Other Bangkok surgeons
We found fewer dated reports for other clinics. A US patient of Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich at DHT Hair Clinic posted in February 2024 from Bangkok, on a trip already planned. The first inquiry went out only weeks before that trip.
If a clinic you're looking at has no waiting list stories online, that tells you little either way. Ask it for its next three open dates.
Why the Wait Has Grown
Patients put it down to demand. The poster who saw Dr. Laorwong's wait go from 2 months to 6 wrote that "he's definitely gotten a lot more popular."
More people are booking the same few names. In April 2026 a reply in the Reddit wait-time thread said "Everybody seems to go to the same two clinics."
Patients link price rises to the same demand. A HairTran patient wrote in March 2023 that the clinic said "they increase prices every quarter."
Get the price written into your booking confirmation when you pay the deposit.
On a long wait, a quote from your first email can be out of date by the time you travel.
The Wait for a Consultation Comes First
Before you can book a date, most clinics want a video call or a set of photos. At the busiest clinics, that step has its own queue.
HairTran's contact page says it has moved to Zoom-only consultations and asks patients to "book your appointment at least 4 weeks in advance" to get a consultation link (read 9 October 2026).
Patients report a range. In the same Reddit thread in December 2025, one patient had a consultation scheduled for late March, "3 months out," and another replied "About 2 months."
A third booked a video call in August 2025 and was told it could be months, then "got very lucky and was speaking to her within 2 weeks and was booked in for December that same week."
It was quicker before that. A patient whose surgery was in late February 2024 wrote of getting a Zoom consult with Dr. Patty and the clinic's international patient coordinator the following week, and that HairTran's website had "changed their online consult scheduling out to 3 weeks and procedure 3 months."
At Absolute, patients describe sending photos by email or WhatsApp and getting dates back. The October 2025 patient answered the screening questions and "Was given a list of available dates."
What Clinics Publish About Booking Ahead
None of the clinic pages we read gives a surgery waiting time. What they publish is the booking process, and a few details that tell you how they plan.
Absolute Hair Clinic's online consultation form asks, "When are you looking to undergo the procedure?" Put your real window there, with any months you can't do.
Thailand Hair Transplant Center in Chiang Mai asks patients to email to book "as early as possible." Its deposit is due no later than 15 days before the appointment.
BLS Hair Center lists a video call with the surgeon first. Then it wants blood test results before the transplant date.
Ask your clinic whether the blood test is done at home before you fly or at the clinic on arrival, and how recent the results need to be.
How a Deposit Holds Your Date
Across Absolute and HairTran reports, the date is yours only once the deposit lands. An Absolute patient who booked in September 2023 wrote that the next step "to secure a date" was to pay through the Wise app.
Once it's paid, patients say to trust it. One reply in a 2024 thread put it as "After the deposit is made. Trust the appointment date."
Moving the date is where a waiting list costs you. Absolute's policy says deposits are non-refundable, and you can reschedule up to two times within a year of the deposit date (read 9 October 2026).
It's free at least 30 days before the procedure. A change 15 to 29 days before costs $200 USD (or 7,000 THB).
Inside 14 days, Absolute treats a change as a cancellation. You lose the deposit, and "a new deposit will be required to book a future date."
On a calendar that is full for months, a future date may be a long way off. Our payment and financing guide covers deposits and refund terms in more detail.
How to Get a Date Sooner
The patients who got in early used the same few moves.
Ask for the other surgeon
Absolute has two surgeons patients book by name. In May 2024 one patient told the clinic that either doctor was fine. Both were "fully booked until Oct," but "Dr. Ratchathorn was able to squeeze me in on the first week of July."
Other patients did the same by choice. A May 2024 reply said "I'm booked with Dr Ratchathorn because Laorwong is pretty booked up."
Give a window, not a date
That same patient asked for any time in July rather than one week. A clinic juggling a full calendar can fit a flexible patient into a gap that a fixed date won't match.
Ask about cancellations
On a waiting list, someone else's change of plans is your earlier date. In the June 2024 thread, a reply suggested you "ask to be notified of cancellations if you're prepared to go sooner but at shorter notice."
Ask the clinic whether it keeps a cancellation list and how much notice it gives.
Fit it into a trip you already have
The February 2024 DHT patient had a trip lined up. The idea of having it done in Bangkok "occurred to me weeks before my trip so I began with an inquiry."
If you live in the region or travel to Thailand often, tell the clinic. A short-notice slot only works for someone who can get there quickly.
Busy Months
No Thai hair transplant clinic we read publishes a busy season. The seasonal data that exists is about tourism.
BeeLink, a Thai medical tourism concierge service, says in its seasons guide "The cool season from November through February is Thailand's most popular time for tourism." It adds that "hotels and flights are at their most expensive" then.
It calls late December to early January "Thailand's absolute peak tourist season." It also says the hot season, outside the peak, brings "less crowded hospitals."
If your date lands between November and February, book the flight and hotel as soon as the clinic confirms it in writing. If it lands in the hot months, read our page on recovering in Thailand's heat before you go.
What to Do While You Wait
Book flights only after the clinic confirms your date in writing.
Then plan the length of the trip. Our guide to how long to stay in Thailand covers the days before and after surgery.
Keep a record of everything agreed: the date, the surgeon, the graft range and the price. On a wait of six months or more, it's easy to lose track of what was promised.
A week before you fly, check in. The Absolute patient who booked in September 2023 wrote of having "pinged him in WhatsApp confirming everything is a go" about a week out.
If your doctor at home has you on hair loss medication, ask them how the wait fits in. The HairTran patient who chose a later date did it to stay on medication longer.
Is a Long Wait a Good Sign?
It's a sign of demand. In the February 2026 HairLossTalk thread, a reply from an account named qhtclinic said "The longer wait time with one doctor might actually reflect demand, which isn't necessarily a bad sign."
Some patients pick on availability. A December 2023 HairTran patient wrote that "the easier availability for Dr. Patty made me chose her."
A wait tells you a surgeon is busy. It doesn't tell you who does which part of the procedure or what result to expect, so ask those questions directly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the waiting list for Dr. Laorwong?
Patient reports from 2023 and 2024 run from about 2 months to 7, and a June 2024 thread title said "Booked out for the next 10 months!" In October 2025 one patient found Dr. Laorwong had suitable dates while Dr. Panchaprateep was booked for six months. Ask the clinic for both surgeons' next open dates.
How long is the wait for Dr. Patty at HairTran?
Reports from late 2025 and early 2026 run from about 4 months to 10. A patient who asked in February 2026 was offered December 2026. HairTran's contact page also asks for at least 4 weeks' notice to book the Zoom consultation.
How far in advance should I book a hair transplant in Thailand?
For the best-known Bangkok surgeons, start asking six months or more before the month you want. Dated patient reports from 2025 and 2026 run from about four months to ten, and two comments from September and October 2026 put Dr. Ratchathorn at 6 to 12 months or more. Other clinics and flexible patients can move faster, so ask several clinics for their next open dates.
Can I get a hair transplant in Thailand at short notice?
Sometimes. Patients who were flexible on dates, asked for a second surgeon, or fitted surgery into a trip they had already planned report dates within about two months. Ask the clinic about cancellations and give it a range of dates rather than one.
Does a deposit guarantee my surgery date?
Patients describe the date as confirmed once the clinic receives the deposit. Read the clinic's policy before paying. Absolute's deposits are non-refundable, and a change less than 14 days out counts as a cancellation.
Is a long waiting list a sign of a better surgeon?
It shows demand, not your result. Ask who does each step of the procedure, how many cases the surgeon takes a day, and what happens if the date moves.
