ION Clinic Bangkok Hair Transplants: Doctors, Prices and What to Ask
ION Clinic Bangkok's own hair transplant page says its "skilled surgeons specialize in FUE, FUT, and DHT techniques". When we read it on 5 October 2026, that page gave no surgeon's name and no price.
ION Clinic describes itself as a medical aesthetics and surgery clinic on Sukhumvit 49, and hair transplants are one of many services it lists. Our Bangkok hair transplant guide covers the wider choice of clinics in the city.
This page sets out what ION Clinic publishes and what to ask before you book. It covers the clinic in Bangkok, Thailand, at ion-clinic.com only, not other clinics with "ION" in their name.

What ION Clinic Publishes About Hair Transplants
Almost everything ION Clinic says about hair transplants sits on one page, its hair transplant surgery page, dated March 24, 2026. Its other hair URLs, including the Thai-language ones, showed the same English text.
The Techniques It Lists
The page has three technique headings: "Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE):", "Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT):" and "Direct Hair Transplantation (DHT):".
Under DHT it says: "Extraction: Similar to FUE, but follicles are implanted immediately after extraction." It adds: "Efficiency: Reduces the time follicles are outside the body, improving survival rates."
That survival line is the clinic's claim. The page gives no figure and no study behind it.
It may still be true. The page just doesn't show it.
ION's page doesn't say whether its DHT is the same as DHI. So ask which technique and which tools it plans for your case.
Our DHI guide for Bangkok explains how other clinics use the term.
The page we read lists no non-shaven or long-hair option. It doesn't mention beard, eyebrow or body hair transplants either. The clinic might still do them if you ask.
What the Surgery Involves
For a general picture of the surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology says: "Hair transplant surgery allows the surgeon to move healthy hairs on your scalp to areas with thinning hair."
The same page says: "Most patients remain awake during the entire surgery and need only an anesthesia that makes the scalp numb. Some patients also take a mild sedative to help them relax."
That's how the AAD describes the procedure in general, not how ION Clinic runs it. Ask ION how long your day will take and what anesthesia it uses.
What It Says About Safety
When we read it on 5 October 2026, the safety text on ION's hair page said: "At Bangkok Hair Clinic, we adhere to strict safety standards and use advanced techniques to minimize risks."
The same page introduces its methods as "the most effective hair transplant methods available at Bangkok Hair Clinic". Bangkok Hair Clinic is the name of another clinic in the city.
So the safety section on ION's page carries a different clinic's name. Ask ION who wrote that text and whether it describes ION's own standards.
For an outside picture of how often things go wrong, a 2026 review of FUE complications in Frontiers in Medicine gives two overall figures from different groups of patients.
The first: "Liu et al. estimated an overall complication rate of approximately 1%-5%, although these data were derived from historical series using mainly the FUT technique."
The second: "In a retrospective study of 1,030 FUE procedures, Aksoz et al. reported notable complications in 9.9% of cases; however, nearly half of the patients experienced mild postoperative events, most commonly slight frontal edema and donor-site pruritus."
The authors add that "Incidence rates are approximate and derived from heterogeneous sources, including retrospective series, case-based studies, and systematic reviews; true population-level incidence remains uncertain." Neither figure is about ION Clinic.
What the Hair Page Leaves Out
On 5 October 2026, ION's hair page didn't show:
- The name of any surgeon
- How many grafts a typical case needs
- A price, per graft or per package
- A non-shaven or long-hair option
- PRP or any other add-on for hair
The clinic may answer each of these if you ask. Get every answer from the clinic directly, in writing.
The Surgeons and Who Does What
ION Clinic named no surgeon on any page we read: its home page, About page, service pages, contact page, blog posts and Thai pages.
On staffing, the hair page says: "Expert Surgeons: Procedures are performed by highly skilled surgeons with extensive experience in hair restoration." That's the clinic's own description, with no credentials, board listings or case counts beside it.
With no name, there's nothing to look up yet. So the name is the first thing to get.
Ask for the full name of the surgeon who will operate on you before you pay any deposit.
Once you have a name, you can search for the doctor on the Medical Council of Thailand register by first name and surname, in Thai or English. You can also check the ABHRS Physician Directory and the ISHRS Find a Doctor page.
Who does which step matters as much as the name. The ABHRS says in its standards for its members that creating the extraction incisions "is a non-delegable act, and must be performed by the physician of record", and that "the creation of incisions for placement of grafts is also non-delegable".
Placing the grafts isn't on that list. The ISHRS says grafts are placed "most often by the trained staff", so staff placing grafts is normal practice.
Ask ION in writing: "Which steps will the surgeon do, and which will staff do?"
Prices
ION Clinic published no hair transplant price on its English or Thai pages when we read them on 5 October 2026.
Its About page carries the tagline "Reasonable price". There's no figure next to it, so it doesn't tell you what a transplant would cost. A quote from the clinic would.
For context, patients report paying ฿36-123 per graft across five Bangkok clinics (31 reports and quotes, 2023 to 2026). That's $1.09-$3.71 per graft.
Most reports at Absolute, Bangkok Hair Clinic and Hairsmith fall at ฿65-90, or $1.96-$2.72 per graft. ION Clinic isn't one of the five clinics behind those figures.
So use them as a rough guide for the city, and expect ION's own quote to decide your price. It could fall outside that range.
Dollars at ฿33.14 = $1 (European Central Bank reference rates, 22 September 2026).
Our Bangkok hair transplant cost guide sets out the clinics that publish prices and what patients report paying at each.
Before you compare ION with anyone else, get its quote in writing with the graft count, the technique and who does each step. Ask what's included, such as medication and follow-up, and what the deposit and refund terms are.
Other Treatments ION Clinic Sells
Hair transplants sit beside cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments on ION Clinic's list of services. The same hair page lists facelift, eyelid, nose, neck lift and lip surgery, plus HIFU, PRP, RF skin tightening, IPL, IV drips, laser hair removal, lipo, Botox, filler and other skin treatments.
Its PRP Regenerative Program page, read 5 October 2026, describes it as "Treatment that use self-extracted growth factor from platelet for skin rejuvenation." It says: "It improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks."
That page describes skin uses only. It doesn't mention hair or the scalp, and it shows no price. So ask before you assume it's offered for hair.
If any clinic offers you an add-on with a transplant, follow your own surgeon's instructions and ask your own doctor before you agree to it.
What Patients Report
We couldn't find a readable patient account of a hair transplant at ION Clinic Bangkok.
If you find a first-hand account, read the date and check whether the poster had a hair transplant there or a skin treatment.
Location and Getting There
ION Clinic's contact page gives its address as "903-905 1st Flr Sukhumvit 49, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand".
Its About page says it is "conveniently located along Sukhumvit Road, within walking distance from BTS Thonglor and BTS Phrom Phong". That's the clinic's description; check the walk on a map against your hotel.
On languages, the same page says: "Our team provides consultation and support in English, Chinese, Japanese and Thai, ensuring clear communication and a comfortable experience for every patient."
The clinic publishes no hotel, airport transfer or package offer. Our guide to where to stay in Bangkok for a hair transplant covers the areas near Sukhumvit.
Booking and Consultation
The contact page lists one route: phone +66821626770, with hours of "Mon - Sun: 11 AM - 8PM". It showed no LINE, WhatsApp or email address. The clinic may still use one, so ask when you call.
ION's site doesn't publish a photo consultation, a deposit amount, refund terms or follow-up care for patients who fly home. It states no reply time.
So call and ask how it handles patients from abroad before you plan flights. Our Bangkok recovery guide helps you work out how long to stay after surgery.
Questions to Ask ION Clinic Before You Book
Each question comes from something the clinic's pages left open.
1. Who is the surgeon, by full name, so I can look them up on the Medical Council register? 2. What does "DHT" on your hair page mean, and which technique do you plan for me? 3. Which steps will the surgeon do, and which will staff do? 4. How many grafts do I need, and what is the total price in writing? 5. What is included: medication, follow-up care, any touch-up policy? 6. What deposit do you take, and what are the refund terms? 7. Can I see before-and-after photos of your own patients, with dates? 8. When we read it on 5 October 2026, your hair page's safety text named "Bangkok Hair Clinic". Who wrote it, and does it describe ION Clinic?
Keep the answers in writing, so you can compare them with other clinics' quotes.
Recovery and Aftercare
Ask ION Clinic for its written aftercare instructions before you book, and follow your own surgeon's instructions after surgery.
On timing in general, the AAD says "between two and eight weeks after the surgery, the transplanted hair will fall out. This is normal."
It also says: "Most patients see results between six and nine months after surgery. For some patients, it takes 12 months." Surgeons generally ask you to wait 12 to 18 months before judging the final result.
Where ION Clinic Sits Among Bangkok Options
We don't rank ION Clinic against other clinics. What it publishes about hair transplants is short: no surgeon name, no price and no patient accounts we could find.
That leaves you more to ask before you book.
Clinics that publish surgeon names and prices are covered in our Bangkok hair transplant guide. Put ION's written answers next to theirs before you decide.
How We Researched This Page
We read ION Clinic's English and Thai pages on 5 October 2026: the home page, About page, service pages, contact page, PRP page, hair transplant page and blog posts. Every clinic quote on this page comes from those reads.
We didn't search the ABHRS, ISHRS or Medical Council directories, because the clinic names no surgeon. We looked for patient accounts on Reddit, Hair Restoration Network, Trustpilot, RealSelf and Google Maps and found none we could read.
Clinics cannot pay to be listed or ranked higher on AsiaPatient.
