Dr. Top vs HairTran: Surgeons, Prices and Booking Compared (2026)
Dr. Top and HairTran are two hair transplant clinics in Bangkok that both publish a way to keep your hair long. Dr. Top vs HairTran comes down to differences you can compare before booking.
Dr. Top publishes baht packages that include up to 2,000 grafts and says doctors perform every surgical step; HairTran publishes a baht starting price, a per-graft no-shave rate, and a follow-up schedule through 12 months.
The useful comparison is what each quote includes, who will operate, and how the clinic will look after you once you're home.

We compare what clinics publish with patient accounts; nobody at AsiaPatient has visited or had a procedure at either clinic.
Who Each Clinic Is
Dr. Top Hair Hospital
Dr. Top is the current clinic website, while The Skin Clinic describes its service as Dr. Top Hair Hospital by The Skin Clinic. The names refer to the same surgeon, Dr. Nuttorn Narupaves.
We cite no Dr. Top transplant price or later outcome from a patient to compare with HairTran.
The name needs a little care when planning your trip. His clinic profile says the business currently operates as a specialist clinic, with its dedicated hospital facility planned for early 2027.
The current site lists Silom 17. The Skin Clinic lists both that address and a hospital location at Sukhumvit 62. So ask which address will handle your surgery before choosing a hotel.
HairTran Clinic
HairTran is a hair transplant clinic that describes itself as a center led by Dr. Patty. It lists the third floor of Quant on Sukhumvit 25, near BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit. Its ISHRS directory entry gives a different address, on Soi Sukhumvit 42.
Neither clinic's cited profile establishes when the clinic opened. Surgeon experience and the age of a business are different things, so we wouldn't use one to fill in the other.
For either clinic, put the surgery address and the location of your follow-up appointments on the booking record. That gives you somewhere concrete to plan around.
The Surgeons and Their Credentials, as Each Clinic Publishes Them
Dr. Nuttorn Narupaves, Dr. Top
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, or ISHRS, directory lists Dr. Nuttorn Narupaves as a Fellow Member and an ABHRS Diplomate. His ABHRS entry gives a certification year of 2023.
ABHRS is the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. These entries let you check the named doctor's professional status separately from the clinic's advertising.
Dr. Pukpinya Jangjetriew, Dr. Patty
The ISHRS lists Dr. Pukpinya Jangjetriew as a Full Member and an ABHRS Diplomate. HairTran names her as its lead surgeon.
Both doctors therefore have an ABHRS Diplomate listing in the ISHRS directory. The membership grades differ, but those labels don't give you a comparison of their patients' results.
We would use the listings to check the doctor's identity, then ask who is assigned to the operation. A lead surgeon's profile doesn't name everyone who will work on your case.
Technique and Equipment
FUE means follicular unit extraction: taking individual grafts from the donor area for transplantation. Both clinics describe this approach, though they use different names for parts of the procedure.
The Skin Clinic expands FUI as Follicular Unit Implantation and describes Long Hair FUI as a form of FUE using an implanter. Dr. Top also names DHI and Long Hair among its procedures.
HairTran names the WAW DUO FUE extraction system and an implanter pen for graft placement. Its detailed service pages describe FUE and Non-Shaven FUE.
An implanter pen is the tool used to place grafts. Ask each clinic to explain the extraction method and placement method separately, so a different procedure name doesn't become the whole comparison.
Neither set of detailed service pages gives a clear current FUT package to compare. HairTran does mention FUT, the strip-harvesting method, in comparison material, so ask directly if that's the procedure you're considering.
Who Does Which Step
Dr. Top says, "Doctors perform every surgical step." The Skin Clinic says the doctor handles the procedure from hairline design through extraction and implantation.
Those are clinic descriptions. Dr. Top's site also describes surgeons rotating. So ask which doctors will work on you and which parts Dr. Top will personally perform.
HairTran says Dr. Patty performs all critical steps. That wording leaves you needing a more detailed answer about extraction, incisions and placement.
Staff placing grafts isn't, by itself, a reason to reject a clinic. The ISHRS says trained staff often place grafts, while the ABHRS identifies extraction incisions and graft-placement incisions as work for the physician of record.
Ask both clinics to name who performs each surgical step.
Keep incision-making separate from pulling or placing grafts in that question. Otherwise, two answers using the word "extraction" may describe different parts of the work.

Price and inclusion sources: Dr. Top and HairTran, read 17 October 2026.
HairTran also includes follow-up appointments in its published package.
Ask Dr. Top to state which package applies to your booking and what happens if the graft count rises.
HairTran's starting price doesn't specify the same included graft count as Dr. Top's package. We can't call either cheaper for your case from those two figures alone.
The Bangkok cost guide covers the wider budget. So request both totals against the same proposed graft count and shaving plan, including anything charged separately.
What Dr. Top Patients Report Paying
We cite no patient-reported Dr. Top bill, so there is no patient-reported price to set beside the clinic's packages.
Use the clinic's published offer as the starting point for a written quote. Ask whether the quoted total includes your full graft count.
What HairTran Patients Report Paying
One r/HairTransplants poster reported a quote of ฿108,000 for 1,500 to 2,000 grafts. That is patient-reported, from a post dated 1 November 2025.
That is a historical quote for one patient. Your quote might cover a different graft count.
Shaven or Non-Shaven: What Each Charges
Dr. Top lists Long Hair from ฿130,000 for up to 2,000 grafts, with ฿20,000 per additional 500 grafts. It describes this option as no shaving or cutting.
HairTran lists Non-Shaven FUE at ฿100 per graft. It includes assessment, the procedure, care for up to one year and low-level laser therapy, or LLLT; both clinics' offers were read 17 October 2026.
HairTran's rate is about US$3.02 per graft, calculated as ฿100 divided by 33.14. US-dollar conversions use ฿33.14 = US$1.
Both clinics publish a no-shave option, so keeping your hair long doesn't select one by itself. Get a written description of what will happen to the hair in the donor area and the area receiving grafts.
One HairTran patient who had a partial shave (donor area and fine hairs at the hairline shaved, the rest kept long) reported that their hair had to be tied up for the first seven days, in a comment on a r/HairTransplants post dated 10 June 2026. Keeping the length still left them with aftercare to manage.
So ask both clinics how you'll wash and arrange your hair during recovery. Our Bangkok non-shaven FUE guide explains the shaving questions to settle before accepting a quote.
Waiting Times and Booking Terms
Neither clinic publishes a current surgery waiting time on the cited pages. There is also no published deposit amount or cancellation policy on those pages for either clinic.
The patient posting on 1 November 2025 reported paying a 40% deposit through an online portal. Treat that as patient-reported, rather than HairTran's current deposit policy.
We cite no patient-reported booking interval for Dr. Top. Ask both for the next surgery date with your chosen doctor and the written terms for holding it.
Get cancellation and rescheduling terms before transferring a deposit.
The amount alone doesn't tell you what happens if your travel dates change. Ask whether moving the operation changes the price or requires another payment.
How You Reach Each Doctor
The Skin Clinic publishes WhatsApp and LINE contact routes and offers initial video consultations.
HairTran advertises a complimentary assessment and says consultations are Zoom-only, with no walk-ins. It asks patients to book at least four weeks ahead; these consultation offers were read 17 October 2026.
That four-week instruction is for the consultation. HairTran doesn't give a surgery date alongside it, so don't build a flight booking around that interval.
HairTran's about page also lists WhatsApp. Its homepage provides phone, LINE and email routes for inquiries and follow-up.
Send the same photos and questions to both clinics. Ask who will join the call, which areas they propose treating, and what still needs an in-person assessment before the operation can go ahead.
Aftercare, Follow-Up and Guarantees
Dr. Top's package specifies four daily post-operative cleanses and consultations. Its homepage also describes direct surgeon consultations during recovery and remote access to the team after you return home.
HairTran publishes a longer appointment schedule, from day one through 12 months. Its homepage describes sending photos for doctor review and arranging a video call when further consultation is needed.
The practical comparison is how those arrangements fit your travel. Ask each clinic which appointments require your presence and who will respond if you have a concern from home.
HairTran recommends two weeks for the whole trip, including consultation and early recovery. It also describes a minimum three-day stay when time is limited, subject to resting before travel; discuss your own departure date with the surgeon.
Dr. Top's included cleanses give you early appointments to plan around, but don't settle your flight date. The Bangkok recovery guide covers the questions to ask when arranging your stay.
The Skin Clinic's FUI page lists a 1-year post-procedure guarantee: free re-transplantation if transplanted hair doesn't grow. It states no further conditions. Ask for the written policy on reviewing a result you're unhappy with, including any charge for further treatment.
HairTran's FUE page offers a one-year guarantee with re-transplantation at no extra charge if growth doesn't meet expectations. Its homepage describes additional care within the coverage period, conditional on attending every scheduled follow-up, both read 17 October 2026.
Ask each clinic which wording applies to your procedure and how it judges eligibility. At HairTran, ask whether remote checks meet the attendance condition. Neither clinic's wording says the cost of another trip is covered.
What Patients Report About Dr. Top
A r/Hairtransplant thread titled "Dr Top Thailand" includes a poster writing, "Just got my Hair transplant from Dr Top in Thailand."
That is the only Dr. Top patient post we cite, and we haven't used it for a price or a result. For someone deciding whether to book, that leaves a gap: ask for longer follow-up accounts relevant to your proposed treatment area and a quote that spells out the package allowance.
We wouldn't treat sparse patient discussion as evidence of poor work. We would use it as a reason to spend more time discussing the operation and follow-up directly with the surgeon.
What Patients Report About HairTran
One patient wrote that communication around doctor involvement "could definitely be better" in a 21 February 2026 r/HairTransplants post. Their concern makes a written explanation of staff and surgeon roles useful before the day.
A commenter who said they had undergone surgery at HairTran described an uneven, "stitched effect" at the front hairline and wanted to discuss a touch-up. The comment appears in a r/HairTransplants thread on 24 July 2026.
Discuss the intended hairline design and the review process with either doctor. These accounts raise questions you can take to a consultation; they don't supply a complaint rate for either clinic.
How to Choose Between Them
If budget is your main constraint, we would request two quotes for the same proposed graft count. Dr. Top's package allowance needs clarification, while HairTran's starting price needs a total for your case.
If you want to keep your hair long, ask both clinics to describe the shaving plan in writing. Both advertise an option, and a package price versus a per-graft price doesn't tell you which plan fits your case.
If doctor involvement matters most to you, Dr. Top makes the more explicit all-doctor statement. HairTran's critical-steps wording needs a step-by-step explanation, and both clinics should name the people assigned to you.
If you'll manage follow-up from abroad, HairTran publishes more detail about appointment timing and remote reviews. Ask Dr. Top for the equivalent schedule, then compare the arrangements you can attend.
For a fixed travel window, request actual surgery dates from both. Neither clinic's public pages give enough information to choose on waiting time alone.
Questions to Ask Both Clinics Before You Pay a Deposit
Send these with the same photos so you're comparing answers to the same case:
- Which doctor will operate, and who will make the extraction incisions, remove grafts, make recipient incisions and place them?
- Can I speak to that surgeon before traveling?
- What graft count and shaving plan does the quote cover, and what happens if the count changes?
- What care and medication are included, and what is charged separately?
- What deposit holds the date, and what are the cancellation and rescheduling terms?
- How many days should I stay for your scheduled care, and which later checks can be remote?
- What happens if I'm unhappy with growth or the hairline, and what conditions apply to further treatment?
Keep the replies with your quote. If you want help organizing your clinic inquiries, use our contact page.
Frequently asked questions
Who does the incisions, extraction and implantation?
Dr. Top says doctors perform every surgical step. HairTran says Dr. Patty handles all critical steps. Ask each clinic to name the person responsible for each step in your operation.
Can I speak to the surgeon before traveling?
Dr. Top's clinic pages offer initial video consultations. HairTran's contact page specifies Zoom-only consultations booked at least four weeks ahead. Ask which surgeon will join and whether that person will perform your operation.
How far ahead should I book, and what deposit is needed?
Neither clinic publishes a current surgery wait or deposit amount on the cited pages. A HairTran patient reported a 40% deposit in November 2025, but that isn't a current policy. So request the available surgery dates and deposit terms together before booking travel.
How much hair needs shaving?
Dr. Top's Short Hair package involves donor shaving; its Long Hair package says no shaving or cutting. HairTran offers Non-Shaven FUE as well as standard FUE. Ask each to describe the donor and recipient areas separately, including how you'll manage longer hair during washes.
How long should I stay in Bangkok for washes and checks?
Dr. Top includes four daily post-operative cleanses and consultations. HairTran recommends two weeks for the whole visit, while describing a minimum three-day stay when time is limited. Ask your surgeon to set your stay around the care you need and your travel plans.
What happens if I'm unhappy with the result?
HairTran's FUE page offers a one-year guarantee with re-transplantation at no extra charge if growth doesn't meet expectations, and its homepage wording requires attendance at every scheduled follow-up. The Skin Clinic's FUI page, which describes Dr. Top's service, lists a 1-year post-procedure guarantee: free re-transplantation if transplanted hair doesn't grow. Ask each clinic how its guarantee applies to overseas patients and what further treatment would involve before paying.
