How We Evaluate Clinics

Last updated: April 1, 2026

Our Evaluation Framework

We evaluate hair transplant clinics in Thailand using a five-pillar framework designed to reflect what matters most to patients: real experiences, verifiable credentials, honest pricing, quality procedures, and aftercare support.

1. Forum and Community Sentiment Analysis

We monitor discussions on Reddit (r/tressless, r/HairTransplants), dedicated hair loss forums, RealSelf, and other patient communities. We look for:

  • Volume and consistency of positive patient experiences
  • Red flags: reports of high-pressure sales tactics, hidden fees, poor results, or post-procedure ghosting
  • Recent reviews (last 12-24 months) weighted more heavily than older feedback
  • Patterns across multiple sources (one-off complaints are noted but not disqualifying; consistent issues are)

2. Credential Verification

We verify professional qualifications and clinic accreditations directly where possible. Key criteria:

  • Medical credentials: Doctors should have verifiable medical degrees and hair restoration training. Membership in ABHRS (American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery) or ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) is a strong positive signal.
  • Clinic accreditation: JCI (Joint Commission International) or equivalent hospital accreditation demonstrates commitment to international standards for safety and quality.
  • Transparency: Clinics that openly list doctor credentials, training, and accreditations score higher than those that don't.

3. Pricing Transparency and Verification

We compile pricing data from patient reports on forums, clinic websites, and direct inquiries. We evaluate:

  • Whether pricing is published openly or only provided after aggressive sales pitches
  • Consistency between quoted prices and actual patient experiences
  • Hidden fees (anesthesia, medications, follow-up care) that aren't disclosed upfront
  • Value relative to market: extremely low prices can signal quality issues (technician-led procedures, rushed work); extremely high prices should be justified by credentials and outcomes

4. Doctor-Performed vs Technician-Led Procedures

One of the most important quality indicators in hair transplants is who performs the critical steps. We assess:

  • Graft extraction and implantation: Is this done by the doctor or delegated to technicians? Doctor-led procedures generally produce better outcomes.
  • Direct communication: Do patients consult with and receive care from an actual doctor, or is most contact with sales staff and technicians?
  • Transparency: Clinics that clearly state who performs each step of the procedure score higher than those that obscure this information.

5. Aftercare Quality

Hair transplant recovery requires follow-up support. We evaluate:

  • Availability of post-procedure guidance (instructions, medications, follow-up consultations)
  • Responsiveness to patient concerns after the procedure
  • Support for international patients (remote check-ins, English-language support)
  • Patient reports of being "ghosted" after payment are a major red flag

What Disqualifies a Clinic

We do not list clinics that meet any of these criteria:

  • Consistent reports of high-pressure sales tactics or misleading advertising
  • Unverifiable or falsified credentials
  • Pattern of poor medical outcomes (infections, scarring, unnatural results) reported by multiple patients
  • Refusal to provide transparent pricing or doctor information
  • Multiple credible reports of post-procedure abandonment or refusal to address complications

Scoring and Ranking

Each clinic is scored across the five pillars. Final rankings reflect weighted scores, with safety and doctor involvement weighted more heavily than pricing. We do not use a single numeric score publicly because medical decisions are too nuanced for a simple 1-10 ranking. Instead, we present strengths and weaknesses clearly so you can prioritize what matters most to you.

How Often We Update Evaluations

Clinics are reviewed every six months. We update evaluations immediately if we receive credible reports of significant changes (doctor departures, ownership changes, pricing shifts, safety concerns). Every page includes a "last updated" date so you know how current the information is.

Our Independence Commitment

We do not rank clinics based on referral fees or advertising relationships. Clinics cannot pay to be listed or ranked higher. Our evaluations are based solely on the criteria outlined above. For more details, see our Editorial Policy.
